Macha Press is currently closed for submissions.

Thank you to everyone who submitted to our inaugural open submissions window.

We will open again in April 2027 for submissions from emerging poets seeking to publish a debut collection; poets with a well-established practice and publishing history; or manuscripts that are historical or in recovery.

The following considerations may be useful when preparing your submission for our next open window:

Macha Press publishes poetry that is innovative: it may be formally experimental, inter-cultural, collaborative, marginal or a work of translation. The best indicator of the type of work we are looking for is the books we have published to date.

Submissions from outside Ireland will be accepted, but poets must have a sustained, demonstrable connection to Ireland, as funding is dependent on this. All submitted work must be written in or translated into English. Please note that we also welcome work in the Irish language.

More detailed guidelines will be available closer to the submissions window opening.
